A Message from Ms. Dolan:

I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher. I am lucky enough that I have taught many different grades and subjects for over thirty years. What I love about teaching is getting to know my students, and seeing them master an elusive skill, or discover something new.

When I am not teaching, I love to read books, write stories, and spend time with my family and friends. I have a 17-year-old son who is a giant of a boy – 6 feet, 2 inches tall, and still growing – yes he plays football! I also have two wonderful chihuahuas named Snowflake and Perro.

A Message from Ms. He:

My first teaching job was as an assistant teacher at the University of Wyoming, where I got my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering. Then in 2018, I was offered a position teaching Chinese at the WSCC program. I have learned so much about teaching and learning over the last three and a half years, including how to effectively manage elementary-aged children, and how to teach a group of students with different skill levels and backgrounds.

When I am not teaching, I like to spend time with my husband and one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. I also own and operate my own art studio where I teach art to children of all ages. Some of my students have even participated in and won international and national art competitions. I am excited to share all these different skill sets with my new students at Lotus Academy!

    A Message from Ms. Huang:

Many parents of previous and current students say that I was born to be a teacher. I feel the same way because teaching is my life’s passion. I have been teaching Chinese to students from K to 12th grade for more than twenty years. My years of teaching experience as a Chinese teacher help me understand the challenges that students have in Chinese learning, and I can help them overcome their difficulties with diversified and individualized teaching strategies. A lot of my students passed the Chinese AP test with perfect scores. However, my goal is not only to help students be proficient in Chinese, but also to make connections to the world.

My hobbies include cooking, reading, listening to music, and traveling. I spend a good amount of time in the kitchen cooking, especially baking during the holidays. I usually make cakes, bread, and cookies. I love to share them with my friends as well. I read books while listening to music before bed every night. I have a 14-year-old son who’s in 9th grade. He likes to make good food with me, and of course, he likes playing computer games as other teen boys do.
