Learning Chinese at Lotus Academy

Giving our children roots into another culture through the language is a wonderful way to see the world through new eyes. Learning languages at an early age crucially restructures the brain and it is at this young age that the child can most effortlessly grasp and absorb the language.

It is the golden time. We’ve explored various language teaching methods and have found some are truly effective.

We offer two types of programs for children who want to learn Chinese:

Chinese as a Second Language and Chinese Immersion.

Both programs have many advantages for your child’s academic, personal, and professional development.

Here are some of the benefits of each program:

Chinese as a Second Language:

This program is designed for children who have little or no exposure to Chinese at home or in school. It aims to help them acquire basic communication skills and cultural awareness in Chinese. Some of the advantages of this program are:

  • It can enhance your child’s cognitive abilities, such as memory, attention, and problem-solving abilities by forcing the mind to shift between two languages and the possibilities of expression.
  • Learning languages has been proved to improve your child’s academic performance in other subjects, such as Math, Science, and English.
  • It can increase your child’s interest and curiosity in learning about different cultures and perspectives.
  • Being multilingual in such a powerhouse language can prepare your child for future opportunities in the global market, where Chinese is one of the most widely spoken and influential languages.

Chinese Immersion:

This program is designed for children who have some exposure to Chinese at home or in school. It aims to help them develop fluency and literacy in Chinese. Some of the advantages of this program are:

  • It can boost your child’s confidence and self-esteem in using Chinese in various situations and contexts.
  • It can deepen your child’s understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture, history, and values.
  • It can foster your child’s creativity and critical thinking skills by exposing them to different forms and genres of Chinese literature and media .
  • It can broaden your child’s career prospects and network by connecting them with other Chinese speakers around the world.

As you can see, both programs offer many advantages for your child’s learning and growth.

Whether you choose Chinese as a second language or Chinese immersion, you can be sure that your child will receive high-quality instruction and support from our experienced and qualified teachers who span a wealth of different subjects.

We have the resources so we truly hope you will join us at our school and discover the joy of learning Chinese!
